Buying a home is usually the largest single financial investment most people make. No matter how well built your home is, you are still vulnerable to fire, theft, and other disasters. Could you possibly afford to replace absolutely everything you own? Recovering from even a partial loss, like having your home broken into and many of your possessions stolen, would cost more than most people could manage on their own. Home insurance provides coverage not only on your dwelling, but also covers losses to household contents and personal property and provides personal liability protection. The most inclusive home policy is usually called Comprehensive Form and covers both the building and its contents for all risks, except for those specifically excluded. A Named Perils policy is the most basic home insurance policy that covers only those perils that are specifically stated in the policy. A Broad Form home policy is a mid priced compromise where there is all risks coverage on the building and named perils coverage on contents. |
